Share Your Rotary Story

Your story could inspire action across Africa

Every Rotary and Rotaract project begins with people who see a need and choose to act.

Rotary Africa is looking for meaningful stories from clubs, districts, members and partners across the continent. Tell us about the projects, people and ideas making a difference in your community, and your story could be considered for inclusion in an upcoming issue of Rotary Africa magazine or on our digital platforms.

Whether it is a major community project, an inspiring member, a successful partnership, a youth initiative or a simple moment that demonstrates Service Above Self, we would love to hear about it.

Submit your story by the 6th of the previous month to be considered for the next available issue.

What makes a strong story?

We are particularly interested in stories that:

  • Show the human impact of Rotary or Rotaract
  • Highlight a community need and how it was addressed
  • Introduce us to inspiring members, volunteers or beneficiaries
  • Share useful ideas that other clubs could adapt
  • Celebrate collaboration between clubs, districts or community partners
  • Include clear results, facts and measurable outcomes
  • Are accompanied by strong, high-resolution photographs
  • Include a complete caption for every photograph submitted

You do not need to be a professional writer. Give us the facts, introduce us to the people involved and explain why the story matters. Our editorial team may edit submissions for clarity, length and magazine style.

Before you Submit

Please prepare the following information:

  • The full name of your Rotary or Rotaract club
  • Your district number and country
  • The location and date of the project or event
  • The names and roles of the people involved
  • A clear description of what happened
  • The community need or challenge being addressed
  • The outcome or impact of the project
  • Relevant statistics, amounts raised or people reached
  • Quotes from members, partners or beneficiaries
  • Original, high-resolution photographs
  • A full caption and photographer credit for every photograph
  • Permission from the people shown in the photographs
  • Parent or guardian permission where children are identifiable

Please avoid submitting screenshots, social media downloads or photographs compressed through WhatsApp where an original image is available.

Photo captions are  required

Every photograph must include its own caption.

A useful caption should explain:

  • Who is in the photograph
  • What is happening
  • Where the photograph was taken
  • When the activity took place
  • The names of identifiable people, listed from left to right
  • The name of the photographer or organisation that supplied the image
